Coffee Daydreams is a new and ongoing series of digital collages comprised from photographs of my morning coffee, scenes from my everyday life and travels, and old photographs from my family album. While sipping my coffee every morning, my mind wanders off from thinking about the things I need to do, to thoughts about my desires, dreams, and memories. I find these quiet times before starting the day to be precious moments that are meditative, grounding and calming. In my photography, I am constantly on the lookout for different patterns such as floor tiles, wallpaper, and fabrics, which relate to a domestic theme, as well as textures in nature. The repetition of a pattern has a soothing effect, and the use of bold colors can be healing and can change a mood. They trigger memories, and by layering them in my work, these patterns and textures create new forms which hint to their original configuration yet carry new meaning within their new contexts, as they offer a new reality of joy, hope, tranquility, and escape.
